The Wimberley Valley Quilt Guild members use their quilting skills to support area community projects, charities and other non-profit organizations in need. Towards this endeavor, we encourage each member to contribute one quilt during their birthday month or two yards of fabric.
The Hays Caldwell Women's Shelter in San Marcos is a place for battered and abused women and their children to seek refuge and plan for their future. We have chosen this charity to make comfy quilts and other items to bring warmth into their lives in a time of confusion.
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. We have chosen this charity to make comfy quilts to welcome families into their new homes.
Annual Christmas Market
The Wimberley Presbyterian Church holds a Christmas Market every year for nonprofit organizations to participate in. The guild sells homemade items donated by our members such as Christmas decorations, pillowcases, tote bags, table runners, place mats and quilts. The guild donates 50% of the proceeds from the sale to the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center. The other 50% is used for charity projects such as making kids' quilts, Habitat for Humanity and Emily Ann donations. What doesn't sell is donated to the Center.
